Food Recovery & Access Coordinator
Reports to: Food Recovery & Access Manager
FLSA status: Non-exempt
Schedule: Full Time (40 hours per week)
Compensation: $21.50 - $24/hrPosition Summary
The Food Recovery & Access Coordinator supports the Food Recovery & Access team in recovering fresh food from farms, retail partners, and local vendors; aggregating and organizing this food; and distributing it through CFC’s network of community partner organizations. This role coordinates food distribution activities, collaborates on all food handling, washing, and storage processes, and is responsible for accurate data entry and reporting. The position prioritizes food access, ensuring that recovered food reaches the communities that need it most.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Participate in food harvesting, handling, movement and ensuring food safety.
- Assist in transporting fresh foods from the Food & Farm Hub in Greenwich to distribution sites across CFC’s service area, including CFC Food Pantries.
- Maintain existing relationships and strong communication with partners organizations to ensure expectations are met and needs are understood.
- Collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator to identify volunteer needs and support recruitment and scheduling.
- Lead weekly pack-outs, including set up, break down and oversight of volunteers.
- Weigh, record, track, and input data required for monthly reports and other program needs in a timely and accurate manner.
- Model and follow all food safety and other relevant policies and procedures across harvesting, transport, washing, packing, storage, and distribution.
- Provide backup support for all Food Recovery & Access programs, including retail recovery pickups, Farm2Library deliveries, partner agency deliveries, and pantry services.
- Obtain food safety certification and training.
- Support other organization-wide programs as needed.

- Experience and demonstrated ability to meet the job responsibilities.
- Physical ability to pack, load, drive, and deliver orders. Requires the ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly.
- Driving record free of serious infractions in the last three years.
- Comfort with learning and using both manual and power pallet jacks and driving large commercial vehicles.
- Comfort with learning, using, and institutionalizing technology systems such as Asana, Microsoft Excel, and Office 365.
- Critical thinking, problem-solving, organizational and record keeping skills.
- Track record of independently structuring and prioritizing tasks, projects, and deadlines.
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service.
- ServSafe and GAP certification a plus.

Vision requirements include close, distance, and peripheral vision, as well as the ability to adjust focus.The work environment includes a warehouse setting with walk-in coolers and freezers, as well as outdoor work in varying weather conditions. The employee must be able to tolerate temporary exposure to heat and cold. Noise levels are generally moderate; hearing protection will be provided if needed.
