Morgan Stanley Investment Research is one of the financial industry's dominant thought leaders in equity and fixed-income investing. Our analysts, economists, and strategists have earned this reputation through timely, in-depth analysis of companies, industries, markets, and the world's economies. Our teams collaborate to assist Morgan Stanley clients with investment decisions, using cash and derivative instruments across major asset classes and geographies.

Role

The LatAm Strategy team is seeking an equity strategist to join the team in New York to focus on LatAm equity markets. The Associate/VP would be part of the EM/LatAm Strategy tram and work closely with LatAm equity analysts, FX and Fixed Income teams. The Associate/VP will be able to take part in all aspects of the research production - from idea generation, data analysis, report writing and then promoting to clients. The role will also involve maintenance and development of the various analytical tools and models produced by the team for clients. The analyst can expect to learn from and work with senior members of the team on specific projects, the results of which are published and sent out to clients.

Qualifications - External

Skills

- You have a strong academic background with a degree in a business related field, or equivalent

- A strong interest in global macro and LatAm is a critical pre-requisite for the role

- Previous work experience in equity markets or macro would be a material advantage

- Ability to work collaboratively as a team player and interact effectively with other research teams across the firm

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Statistical and quantitative skills with a background in Microsoft Excel or any statistical package.

- Ability to demonstrate competence with numerical concepts and tools

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $150,000 and $200,000 per year for Associate, and between $175,000 and $250,000 per year for VP, at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
