As part of our commitment to technical excellence, our Systems Support Engineer manages the support, monitoring, and maintenance of our operating systems, cloud platforms, and networks. This role requires practical knowledge of IT hardware, enterprise productivity apps, and networking protocols to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently. Success requires strong communication, effective prioritization, and a drive to learn and grow within an evolving technology landscape.

What you'll do

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:

Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution:

  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to IT hardware (virtual or physical), software, applications, and networks (virtual and physical).

  • Provide timely, effective support to end users by addressing their inquiries and resolving issues.

  • Identify and implement solutions to prevent recurring issues.

System Maintenance:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as vulnerability scanning, patching, updates, and backups, to ensure system reliability and security.

  • Monitor system performance and identify potential bottlenecks or issues.

  • Implement and actively monitor security measures and platforms to protect systems from vulnerabilities and threats.

Technical Support:

  • Provide technical assistance to users via phone, email, ticketing, and/or chat.

  • Document and track support requests and changes to ensure efficient resolution and adherence to compliance.

  • Assist in developing and maintaining technical documentation, runbooks, and knowledge base articles.

Network Administration:

  • Configure, manage, and maintain network devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls (virtual or physical) as it relates to desktop-level communication protocols.

  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues and optimize network performance.

Hardware Support:

  • Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, including servers, workstations, and peripherals (virtual or physical).

  • Diagnose and repair hardware failures.

  • Process and track Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) cases with hardware vendors

Software Support:

  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot business-level software applications used both locally on company assets and on cloud-based platforms.

  • Provide technical support for various operating systems, including Windows and MacOS, and software platforms.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Log time each week in our corporate time-tracking system.

  • Travel on occasion to support business operations.

  • Always abide by company acknowledged policies and procedures to maintain company integrity and information security.

What you bring

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in the software ecosystems essential to modern business operations and administrative workflows.

  • Operating Systems: Proficiency in operating systems such as Windows and macOS, minor Linux. A plus.

  • Network and Security Skills (if relevant): Expertise in network setup, cybersecurity protocols, firewalls, and VPNs.

  • Project Management and Service Desk Software: Familiarity with project management tools like Jira or Zendesk for tracking tasks and project deliverables.

  • Cloud Platforms: Experience with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure) for roles that involve cloud computing or IT infrastructure.

  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze technical problems and develop effective solutions.

Qualifications

  • 2+ year associate's degree or greater preferred.

  • 3+ years of relevant work experience preferred.

  • All relevant IT certifications/licenses are a plus

  • Proven ability to manage confidential information with discretion and integrity.

  • Oral and written fluency in English.

  • All positions require the ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time, including typing, using a mouse, and viewing a monitor throughout an eight (8) hour workday. Employees must be able to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods, as needed to perform their duties.

  • Positions may involve infrequent lifting of items such as a laptop or related equipment. Walking requirements are limited to normal travel or commute needs as outlined in this section.

  • All roles require the ability to communicate effectively, including speaking on the phone and collaborating with team members, clients, vendors, and other business partners. Employees must be able to focus on multiple tasks and project requirements throughout the workday. Most positions may require occasional travel.

Home Office Requirements

  • A minimum internet speed of 25 Mbps for downloads and 1.5 Mbps for uploads is required.

  • A private Wi-Fi network with a strong, unique password is necessary to access company data or systems.

  • The company provides a monthly internet stipend. New hires must complete a speed test during onboarding and update any default router passwords to ensure secure network access.
