Hatch is currently seeking a Civil and/or Structural Engineering Student Intern to join our team in our Brooklyn office. We are looking for students that enjoy working with people in a team environment, strive for excellence, and understand innovation.

Our knowledge of interstate and transit infrastructure includes traffic analysis, highway design, bridge design, track, earthworks, tunnels, traction power, and rail signals and communications. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for various technical design duties on Highway, bridge and rail transit projects. These projects could include feasibility analyses; conceptual design; preliminary and detailed design; drafting of plans and specifications; and other support as required to the Infrastructure team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting with developing project scopes and engineering estimates
- Use the application of Civil engineering principles to provide efficient, effective, economical and timely solutions to design problems in a multidiscipline project environment.
- Application of innovative engineering solutions.
- Engineering design of roadway alignment, traffic data gathering and analysis, earthworks, bridge layout and analysis, track design and rail corridor misc. infrastructure.
- Working independently evaluating, selecting, and applying standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.
Qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled in and pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum of a cumulative 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- Candidates with previous Heavy Industrial Internship or Co-op experience is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Aptitude for working on multi-disciplinary teams.
- Commitment to achieving excellence in engineering.
- Ability to apply technical knowledge to various practical problems.
- A desire to learn and continually develop.
- Strong personal commitment to safety.

- Perform assignments related to your engineering sector
- Assist with preparation of detailed design for projects
- Support preparation of drawings from detailed notes and specifications
- Coordination with other technicians/engineers on projects
- Provide support to Senior Engineers and Designers as and when needed

Compensation range depends on education and experience. For ideal candidates, the compensation range can be $25-$28 hourly. Please feel free to contact us for information on additional compensation and programs.
