About the Role

CCST seeks an Expert Software Architect to support the Enterprise Architecture DevOps Team at the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance.
This role leads the design, integration, and optimization of DevOps pipelines supporting critical state tax applications on the e-MPIRE Tax Processing System .

What You’ll Do

• Lead DevOps architecture and design sessions , ensuring technical solutions align with strategic direction
• Integrate diverse technologies into unified build/deployment pipelines
• Abstract technical complexities for agile, loosely coupled development
• Design and implement productivity tools to accelerate development
• Manage installations and deployments on OpenShift (via Kubernetes Operators)
• Configure and optimize GitLab Runner pipelines , Helm , and Argo
• Conduct performance analysis and tuning
• Present solutions to technical and management teams
• Document implementations and deliver team training on DevOps frameworks

Must-Have Qualifications

• 60+ months working with Kubernetes operators in OpenShift
• 48+ months building GitLab Runner CI/CD pipelines
• 60+ months configuring HELM or Argo for deployments
• 84+ months experience designing Jenkins CI/CD pipelines
• 48+ months integrating Conjur or other Secret Management tools with pipelines
• Proven ability to architect, deploy, and optimize containerized applications in secure enterprise environments

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience supporting large government DevOps or enterprise architecture programs
• Familiarity with automation/configuration tools (Ansible, Terraform)
• Scripting in Bash or Python for CI/CD orchestration
• Knowledge of security controls and compliance (e.g., STIG, CIS Benchmarks)
