Position Overview
High Ridge House is seeking a dependable and experienced Cook to join our Food Service team. This role is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality meals for residents and guests while maintaining cleanliness, safety, and consistency in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
This position requires someone who takes pride in food quality, follows safety standards, and contributes to a positive, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Cooking
• Prepare a variety of menu items including meats, poultry, fish, vegetables, soups, salads, casseroles, eggs, and desserts
• Follow approved recipes and portion guidelines consistently
• Ensure food is served on time, at proper temperatures, and with quality presentation
• Assist with daily prep for upcoming meals and events
• Monitor food inventory and communicate when supplies need to be replenished or rotated
Kitchen Operations & Cleanliness
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment at all times
• Wash dishes, pots, pans, glassware, and utensils using industrial equipment or hand washing as needed
• Sweep, mop, and sanitize kitchen and dining areas regularly
• Complete deep cleaning tasks (ovens, walk-ins, equipment, storage areas) on a scheduled basis
• Remove trash and recycling properly and promptly
• Ensure food storage areas are clean, safe, and compliant with standards
Service & Team Support
• Deliver meals to residents and guests accurately and on time
• Maintain a friendly, respectful, and professional attitude at all times
• Support kitchen operations during busy periods, events, and staffing shortages
• Assist with stocking supplies such as condiments, beverages, and kitchen essentials
• Work collaboratively with supervisors and team members
Compliance & Safety
• Follow all food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures
• Comply with local health department regulations and OSHA standards
• Maintain required food protection certification (or ability to obtain it)
• Report safety concerns, equipment issues, or food safety risks immediately
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
• Minimum 1–3 years of food service or cooking experience (institutional or healthcare kitchen experience preferred)
• Food Protection Certificate required (or willingness to obtain)
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods
• Comfortable working weekends, holidays, and varied shifts as needed
Work Environment
• Fast-paced commercial kitchen
• Requires standing, bending, lifting, and physical activity throughout the shift
• Team-based environment focused on service quality and cleanliness
