Position Summary:

Mechanical Engineers are responsible for the repairs and maintenance of the Classic Harbor Line fleet.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Successfully and safely perform installation, maintenance, and repair tasks for all vessel systems, including but not limited to main engines, generators, steering, hydraulic, electrical, lighting, heating, ventilation, refrigeration, water, and sewage systems.
• Execute maintenance tasks including but not limited to engine overhauls, AC/DC electrical troubleshooting, machinery rebuilds, preventative maintenance, and hydraulic steering work.
• Utilize power tools to accomplish designated tasks.
• Assist with fueling, filling water, and pumping sewage.
• Accept tasks and work orders from the Head Engineer and Operations Manager and plan/implement execution.
• Ensure that all vessels exceed the minimum standards for the USCG and all Federal, State, and local safety standards.
• Ensure vessel systems are always in an inspection-ready condition.
• Conduct environmental, operational, and performance tests on marine machinery and equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Strong hands-on experience of vessel engineering and maintenance.
• Must know how to safely and properly use hand and power tools needed for the job.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure and handle emergency response.
• We are a quality hospitality organization that serves the public year-round. Working weekends and holidays may be required.

Work Location: Chelsea Piers, New York

Compensation and Benefits:

• $22 to $28/hr base rate dependent on skill level
• Entry into the company profit sharing pool after a probationary period..
• Eligible for 401k after one year
• Medical and dental insurance available for full-time employees
