Position Summary
The Server will be responsible for supporting the dining room Captain, taking orders, maintaining the dining room, serving beverages and helping the guest make informed decisions. In this role, the server is expected to use their skills and knowledge to provide a dining experience that exceeds guest expectations.
Role Responsibilities
- Provide warm, polished, and attentive service from greeting through farewell, ensuring each guest feels welcomed and cared for.
- Guide guests through the menu with confidence, offering thoughtful recommendations on food, wine, and cocktails.
- Anticipate guest needs and respond promptly to requests while maintaining composure and professionalism.
- Manage tables efficiently while delivering a seamless and unhurried fine dining experience.
- Maintain expert knowledge of all menu items, ingredients, preparation methods, and potential allergens.
- Possess a working understanding of the wine list and beverage program, including pairings and service standards.
- Communicate clearly and accurately with the kitchen and bar to ensure timing, quality, and presentation meet restaurant standards.
- Execute all service steps according to fine dining standards, including proper table settings, pacing, and clearing techniques.
- Accurately enter orders into the POS system and handle checks with precision and discretion.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of service stations and dining areas.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with hosts, food runners, bartenders, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service.
- Support teammates during peak periods and contribute to a respectful, professional work environment.
- Participate in pre-shift meetings, menu tastings, and ongoing service training.
- Recommend menu offerings and communicate orders to bar and kitchen by recording guest choices, dietary needs and special requests.
- Assist the Captain with coursing and table setting.
- Any other tasks as assigned by management.
Knowledge, Experience and Skills
- 2+ years minimum experience as a server in a fine dining, high volume restaurant required.
- Possess and exhibit a drive to provide exceptional service.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, bilingual a plus.
- Understanding of local food safety and sanitation standards and required certifications.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude and welcoming feedback.
- Professional demeanor, polished appearance, attention to detail with the ability to exceed guest's expectations.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Strong work ethic and customer-focused approach.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform essential job functions consistently, safely, and successfully with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. at times.
- Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the work area and property.
- Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms, and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
- Climbing steps regularly.
- Prolonged periods standing or sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Compensation
- The hourly pay range for this position is $17.00 plus tips. This position takes the tip credit.
- The determination of what a specific employee in this job classification is paid depends on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, prior employment experience, job-related knowledge, qualifications and skills, etc.
