The Bowery Mission is a Christian, faith-based organization committed since the 1870s to serving people experiencing homelessness, hunger, and poverty. As a key member of the Development Team, the Events Coordinator serves donors who provide critical funds necessary to extend compassionate care and transform lives at The Bowery Mission. The Coordinator will assist in administrative, coordinating duties related to the execution of tasks for all events for which the Events team is responsible in full or in part. This is a highly administrative role and during event time, a demanding role, often involving longer hours of work. The ability to persevere, follow-through, and problem solve is crucial.
This job requires on-site presence at least four days a week and during event times, longer hours as needed to support in the successful execution of the event.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist the Event Manager with the planning and execution of all Fundraising, Cultivation Events and Thanksgiving. Fundraising Events (Valentines Gala, Inspiring Hope: Spring Benefit Lunch, and Summer Social.
- Work with the Events Manager and Director of Events & Volunteer Services to divide events tasks as relevant.
- Maintain and update tasks assignments for relevant events within project management software (currently Asana).
- Record and submit for payment, event expenses in a timely manner to ensure costs are managed within budget, promptly reporting any overruns to the Events Manager.
- Supervise and execute operational events details (including packing and loading materials, unloading at event venue, set up at venue and post- event clean-up). This will include some heavy lifting at times.
- Manage all cultivation events by establishing timelines and deadlines with collaborating departments and individuals.
- Own Event Teams use of Salesforce.
Schedule:
Monday - Friday: 9:30am-6:00pm
Requirements:
- Embraces the organizations Statement of Faith.
- 2+ years events or project management experience.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Advanced software knowledge including Microsoft Office and proficiency with CRM databases.
- Interpersonal skills and some customer service experience are essential.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines are necessary.
- Must be able to work under pressure using sound judgment and strong analytical thinking.
Preferred:
- Adobe Creative Suite (particularly InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator) proficiency is preferred but not required.
Salary commensurate with relevant education & experience: $50,000 - $55,000 annually.
