Certified Public Accountant

Role Overview:

Align Social Impact is seeking a detail-oriented and mission-aligned Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to join our team in a contract capacity. This role is ideal for a finance professional who thrives in dynamic environments and is passionate about supporting organizations that drive social change. The CPA will play a critical role in ensuring financial integrity, providing strategic tax guidance, and contributing to the overall effectiveness of our consulting engagements. This is a deliverable-based contract position with flexible hours and meaningful work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Tax Compliance & Preparation: Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for a diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring full compliance with current regulations and identifying opportunities for optimization.
• Strategic Tax Advisory: Provide thoughtful, forward-looking tax planning and advisory services that support clients’ long-term financial sustainability and mission-driven goals.
• Financial Analysis & Reporting: Conduct in-depth financial analysis and develop clear, actionable reports that inform consulting engagements and help clients make data-driven decisions.
• Collaborative Consulting Support: Work closely with Align’s consultants to integrate financial insights into broader business strategies, impact frameworks, and organizational development plans.
• Regulatory Awareness & Compliance: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving tax laws, accounting standards, and compliance requirements, proactively advising clients and internal teams on implications and best practices.
• Capacity Building & Operational Support: Support clients in strengthening their financial infrastructure, improving operational efficiency, and building internal capacity for long-term success.

Qualifications:

• Active CPA license in good standing.
• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in public accounting, including tax preparation.
• Experience working with nonprofits, social enterprises, or small businesses preferred.
• Strong technical proficiency in GAAP, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Commitment to Align Social Impact’s mission and values.

• Contract-based role with deliverables defined per engagement.
• Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.
• Location: New York City (Hybrid/On-Site).
