Research Scientist l - Emotional Brain Institute

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Emotional Brain Institute (EBI), is a multidisciplinary institute addressing the neurobiology of emotion. We seek to hire a part timeResearch Scientist to participate in NIH-funded research investigating the neural circuits underlying survival behaviors. The Research Scientist will utilize neuroscience techniques including stereotaxic injection of viral vectors, implantation of chronic indwelling cannulae, optrodes and electrodes and optogenetic stimulation while running behavior.

JOB DUTIES:

The Research Scientist will collaborate with Drs. Cain and Sears for all
experiments. Job responsibilities include survival surgeries, running behavior, optogenetics, fiber photometry, statistical data analysis, securing regulatory approvals, writing SOPs, training lab members, writing scientific publications and grant sections, and presenting data in a team setting.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and two years of professional research experience in an appropriate field or master's degree in an appropriate field may substitute for one year of the experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• PhD in psychology, neuroscience, or a related field.
• Prior experience with rodent behavior and/or neuroscience techniques is essential.
• The fellow must be a hard worker, must be able to work independently and work closely with others in a team approach.

Background Investigation/Justice Center Review Requirements :

Prospective appointees will be: 1) Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs.
