A day in this roleYou arrive for shift handoff, review CMMS work orders on your tablet, and prioritize the morning’s tasks. A conveyor motor is tripping a breaker — you isolate the fault, trace the circuit using schematics, and replace a worn component. Midday, you coach a Mechanic I through a pneumatic tool rebuild, then shift to scheduled PMs across motors, conveyors, robotic cells, and other automated assets. In the afternoon, you partner with an engineer to diagnose an intermittent sensor fault on an automated line, update documentation, and log corrective actions. Throughout the day, you uphold OSHA standards, reinforce safe work practices, and suggest improvements that reduce unplanned downtime.
Core responsibilities- Independently perform intermediate maintenance and repair on production equipment, including motors, conveyors, pneumatic tools, and related machinery.
- Use advanced diagnostics to troubleshoot moderate-to-complex electrical, mechanical, robotic, and automated system issues; collaborate with senior mechanics or engineers for unusual problems.
- Plan, execute, and refine preventive maintenance schedules to keep equipment operating at peak efficiency.
- Champion safety and compliance practices in accordance with OSHA and company protocols.
- Mentor and support Maintenance Mechanic I team members to build capability and confidence.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by recommending process, equipment, and procedure enhancements to minimize downtime.
- Document all work, repairs, and modifications accurately within company procedures and CMMS.
- 2–4 years of hands-on maintenance or technical experience focused on mechanical, electrical, or automated systems.
- Proven background in troubleshooting, corrective repair, and preventive maintenance.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certifications in mechanical, electrical, or automation disciplines are a plus.
