Positive behavioral intervention support services (PBIS)

About the Position
PBIS services are provided to clients who have significant behavioral difficulties and have had inappropriate or maladaptive responses to events in their environment. Behavior Specialists aim to decrease the intensity or frequency of targeted behaviors and to teach more socially appropriate behaviors. PBIS workers are paid hourly per session. Sessions typically run between 3-4 hours per client
Qualifications
Masters in Social Work Bachelor of Arts degree.
One year of experience working with people with traumatic brain injuries, other disabilities, or behavioral difficulties.
Sessions typically run between 2-6 hours per client.
Must have the ability to complete functional assessments and develop and implement goal plans.
Must have their own transportation and be willing to travel to client's homes for sessions.

Responsibilities
Completing functionally based assessments. Developing a comprehensive treatment plan. Teaching individuals with disabilities to be more functionally independent.
Certified Independent Living Skills Trainer involves teaching and training individual life skills necessary for increased independence within the community environment: Daily/ monthly budgeting (Paying bills), grocery shopping, home maintenance, pre-vocational training, cognitive remediation, problem solving and development of functional compensatory strategies, medication management, and self-care skills). Sessions typically run between 2-4 hours per client.
Prepares meals and snacks according to instructions
Accompany patient on errands or medical appointments
Performs housekeeping activities including, but are not limited to vacuuming, dusting, sweeping or mopping floors, doing dishes, changing bed linens, doing laundry, and cleaning bathroom
Performs client-specific activities that are taught by a Right at Home nurse includes, but are not limited to:
Assisting with the prescribed range of motion exercises
Measuring and preparing special diets
Understanding dementia care
Incontinence care
