Monday – Friday
9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (8 Hours per Day)
40 Hours per Week

Position Overview

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a skilled Pathology Technician / Pathologists’ Assistant to support the Surgical Pathology department in a hospital laboratory setting. This role involves assisting pathologists with the examination, preparation, and documentation of surgical specimens.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of pathology procedures, specimen processing, and laboratory safety standards while working collaboratively with pathology and laboratory teams in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist pathologists with gross examination and dissection of surgical pathology specimens

• Prepare and document tissue specimens for histologic processing and analysis

• Ensure accurate labeling, tracking, and handling of pathology specimens

• Maintain documentation within laboratory information systems (LIS)

• Follow all laboratory safety protocols and infection control guidelines

• Coordinate with laboratory and pathology teams to ensure timely specimen processing

• Support quality assurance initiatives and regulatory compliance

• Maintain organized records and assist with overall pathology workflow efficiency

Required Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher from a Pathologists’ Assistant program , OR

• Equivalent program recognized by the New York State Education Department , OR

• Bachelor’s or higher degree from a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program

Licensure

• New York State Licensure as a Pathologists’ Assistant – Required

Experience

• 0 – 3 years of experience in Pathology or Surgical Pathology

Preferred Certifications

• Fellow of the American Association of Pathologists’ Assistants (AAPA)

• ASCP Certification
