Bilingual Program Assistant

Essential Job Function: Must be Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Assist in supporting program clients with daily living skills and facilitating activities. Provide specialized support to Hispanic Clientele with Instructional guidance, clear communication, translation services and cultural program assistance. Specific Duties: Assist in carrying out activity and recreational program assignments. Bilingual Program Assistant will be responsible for engaging with Spanish speaking/Hispanic clients by providing translation between client & staff, to ensure optimal participation. Responsible for serving all program clients, with primary focus on Hispanic clientele (when needed) while assisting others. Work closely with clients and the Bilingual Case Manager in developing personalized, person-centered plans that reflect their goals, strengths, and needs. Facilitated effective communication by translating documents and conversations for staff and provide individualized support to enhance client understanding and engagement. Attend client-led meetings to participate in Person-Centered Plan (PCP) in collaboration with the Social Work team. Support Person -Centered goal planning in team environment to meet the needs of group and individual clients. Utilize Spanish language skills and cultural knowledge to serve as a liaison between clients and staff, promoting cultural awareness and diversity within programming, Provide personal care assistance including mobility assistance, ambulation, and toileting as needed, while ensuring safety, comfort, and dignity. Complete data base entry and maintain accurate records including client goals and attendance times. Assist with preparation and service of breakfast, lunch and snack programs including maintaining meal and nutritional information.

Support transportation program by serving as an Agency Bus Driver and/or escort, to ensure safe and timely transport of clients. (Current NYS Drivers License required, must be able to operate agency bus. Driving Background check is required.)

Maintain reliable transportation for work-related responsibilities. Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality as an essential function of this position Participate in all required State-mandated training as assigned. Provide ongoing support to the team by assisting with daily operations and additional tasks as needed Job Requirements: High School diploma or completed GED equivalent required. Bilingual in English and Spanish with the ability to read, write, translate, communicate and interpret effectively. Training or experience as an HHA, PCA, CNA preferred. Experience working with seniors or individuals with health conditions, cognitive impairment, disabilities, or other impairments. Current Valid Drivers License - Department of Motor Vehicles background required. Reliable transportation. Pre-employment physical/TB skin test required and ability to lift a minimum of 20 lbs.
