Director - Fixed Income Derivatives Lawyer - NYC

My client, a top tier investment bank, is looking to hire a Fixed Income Derivatives Attorney (Director) into their New York legal team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the business on all legal and regulatory matters related to fixed-income trading, with a primary focus on the Global Markets fixed income sales-and-trading businesses (Rates and FX).

The successful candidate will have:

• a minimum of 7 years of post-J.D. (or equivalent) experience at a law firm advising on relevant transactions or relevant experience in-house within the legal department of an investment bank;
• extensive experience with and knowledge of fixed income markets in derivatives and cash products;
• expert knowledge of the laws and regulations applicable to these markets, including post-financial crisis regulatory change as well as the U.S. Securities laws;
• a highly developed facility with complex structured transactions;
• excellent critical thinking and analytical skills;
• excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey key legal concepts and regulatory and internal policy requirements to business and other internal stakeholders as well as to sophisticated counsel representing Barclays’ customers and clients; and
• strong interpersonal skills to facilitate positive colleague and client relationships and to ensure collaboration and respect among colleagues consistent with the Barclays Values.

In this role you will identify issues and guide decision-making in connection with structuring transactions and advising on business initiatives, and act as a main point of contact to resolve and escalate legal and regulatory issues. In addition to job-specific technical skills, you will be assessed on key critical skills relevant for success in the role, such as managing risk and controls, implementing change and transformation, and demonstrating strong critical analysis, strategic thinking, and business acumen.
