Bilingual Early Childhood Program Facilitator - Part Time

5 Steps to Five is a nonprofit parenting program. Parents and their infants meet weekly in groups with trained facilitators, who model ways of interacting with the babies to build cognitive, verbal, emotional and social skills. The goal is to prepare these children for school, using the Five Steps, i.e. Nurture, Talk, Play, Read, and Explore.

Position Overview

Part-time facilitator for a bilingual parent-coaching program that empowers parents as their child’s first teacher through the five core steps—Nurture, Talk, Play, Read, Explore—to prepare infants (0–3 years) for school and life. You’ll lead interactive sessions, ensure curriculum fidelity, and create a warm, inclusive environment for diverse families.

Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Facilitation & Curriculum

• Deliver weekly bilingual sessions using the 5 Steps to Five curriculum.
• Lead play-based bonding activities promoting attachment, sensory exploration, and early milestones.
• Facilitate peer-to-peer parent conversations.
• Model responsive parenting and help facilitate circle time,
• Provide real-time, strengths-based coaching on reading cues, soothing, and celebrating growth.
• Collect parent feedback via check-ins and surveys to refine sessions.

Session Preparation & Logistics

• Arrive 15 minutes early to set up a safe, welcoming space (mats, toys, music, sanitation).
• Maintain 100% on-time attendance for Thursday 9:30–11:30 AM (times may vary slightly).
• Keep personal phone silenced and stored during program hours.

Professional Expectations.

• Notify Program Coordinator at least 24 hours in advance for absences; same-day only for illness/emergency.
• Uphold confidentiality, trauma-informed practices, and a non-judgmental stance.

Team Collaboration & Reporting

• Submit weekly attendance, milestone notes, and feedback via digital tracker.
• Meet weekly with the Program Manager to reflect, plan sessions, and maximise impact.
• Flag families needing extra support (e.g., postpartum mood, developmental concerns).
• Rotate lead/observe roles with co-facilitators and share best practices.
• Request supplies and submit receipts within 48 hours.

Schedule & Hours

• In-person: Thursday 9:30–11:30 AM at CRC Mamaroneck (flexible slight variations)
• Remote/Admin: 1 hour/week for prep, communication, and reporting
• Total: ~3.5 hours/week

Qualifications

• Required:
• Fluent bilingual (English/Spanish)
• 3+ years in parent education, early childhood education, or family support
• Dependable, collaborative, flexible
• Commitment to 5 Steps to Five Mission
• Preferred:
• Training in RIE, Circle of Security, or similar
• CPR/First-Aid certified (or obtain within 30 days)

Training & Requirements

• Attend periodic orientations, staff meetings, and ongoing professional development.
• Able to sit on floor, lift 25 lbs, and actively engage with infants.

Compensation

Part-time, hourly. Pay commensurate with experience.
