Job Responsibilities
Position Summary
St. John Fisher University is seeking applications for an Electronic Document Specialist to provide print-related support and customer service to an active campus Print Center.
Job Responsibilities Include
- Daily digital pre-press, job setup, and production of varied print requests utilizing digital printing presses, wide-format printers, bindery and finishing equipment.
- Create, produce and install wide-format graphics both at the Print Center and at other campus locations.
- Monitor print management system for incoming digital print orders, create new tickets for emailed jobs, and update job statuses as projects proceed through production and finishing. Provide estimates and invoices as needed. Register new users for web-to-print functionality, as well as general upkeep of the system.
- Provide customer service at walk-up window, as well as via email and phone.
- Assist customers with inquiries on file design, setup, production standards and templates for printed materials.
- Monitor inventory levels of paper, stationery, digital press, wide-format and finishing supplies.
- Process order requests through outside vendors and assist supervisor in purchasing outside print jobs as necessary.
- Assist supervisor in hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising student employees. Delegating finishing tasks and deliveries to student workers.
- Involvement with assessing department technologies, workflow processes and other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Occasional maintenance of production and finishing equipment.
Education / Experience
Required : High School Diploma
Preferred : AAS or Bachelor’s Degree
Related experience : Aptitude for math, mechanically inclined for working with equipment/machinery. Experience with variable data printing.
Competencies / Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat Professional.
- Knowledge of various file formats, file management processes, data storage standards.
- Attention-to-detail and organization in a sometimes fast-paced environment.

- Standing and Sitting : Various amounts of sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and bending throughout the day.
- Lifting and Carrying : Heavy lifting often required, (e.g., cartons of paper, rolls of paper, cut paper stock, fulfilled print orders, (ranging from 5-50 lbs). Carts and hand-trucks available for transporting heavy items.
- Manual Dexterity : Use of computer keyboard and office equipment. Operation and maintenance of production, bindery, and finishing equipment. Occasional use of hand tools (screwdriver, pliers, Allen wrench, X-Acto knife).
- Use of storeroom stepstool and ladder.
Supervision of Employees
Supervision of 6–8 student employees.
Work Environment
Well lighted, air-conditioned work area. No windows, concrete floors. Working with toners, cleaning products and machinery. Moderately high noise level.
Equipment to be Used
Familiar with:
- Printing equipment : Konica Minolta AccurioPress, HP DesignJet Wide Format, Graphtec Plotter
- Finishing Equipment : GBC and Accubind bindery equipment, power paper cutter, power creaser/perforator.
- Electronics : P.C. with Microsoft OS, Adobe Creative Cloud, Fiery Command Workstation

Work Hours
Generally a 40 hour work week, Monday – Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm. Hours may occasionally be extended on short notice to accommodate rush and high priority jobs.
