Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

An opportunity is available for skilled educators specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) support to work with elementary students in an engaging and supportive environment. This contract position serves young learners from Kindergarten through 2nd grade, focusing on students who are emergent municators and may also have autism.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide tailored instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, promoting language and munication development
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) aligned with student needs and goals
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to ensure an inclusive and effective learning environment
• Utilize a variety of munication methods appropriate for each student's abilities and preferences
• Monitor student progress and adjust strategies as necessary to facilitate academic and social growth

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
• Experience working with students in grades K-2, especially those with autism and munication challenges
• Knowledge of instructional strategies for emergent municators
• Strong collaboration and munication skills with staff and families
• Patience, creativity, and dedication to fostering student success

Location: Syracuse, NY Area
Position Type: Contract, Non-Standard Year (NSY)
Caseload: Approximately 10 students per teacher
