PositionSummary:

TheAssociateManager,Retail (Plants)isresponsibleforsupportingthe

retailoperationswithaspecificemphasisonhorticulturaloperationsatNYBGShop,including: plant receiving, pricing, merchandising, product order fulfillment, nursery maintenance tasks and daily operations. They will uphold the plant quality and professional standards expected of NYBG while assisting in meeting sales goals and educating visitors.

SpecificDuties&Responsibilities:

• Work with the Director of Commerce & Experience and Manager, Retail Experience to ensure operational efficiency in receiving, tagging, stocking, displaying, markdowns, watering,cleaning,andmaintainingallplants anddisplayareas inNYBGShopduringall seasons and weather.
• Coordinateplantdeliverieswithvendors,workwithmanagertoensurewearestaffedto handle deliveries
• Manageinventory,reduceshrinkage,runreports,andworkwithwarehouseto make sure store is stocked.
• Shareplantandproductknowledge,newarrivals,andcurrenttrendstoinform and inspire customers and staff.
• Activelyparticipateinmanagingthestoreenvironmentandcustomerexperience by facilitating an energized pace and ensure the team is heard and supported.
• Seeksoutknowledgetobecomeanexpertinallstoreplantsandproducts;plansand executes collaborative and educational meetings to elevate employee confidence.
• Supportsdailyoperatingprocessessuchasopeningandclosingprocedures,customer service, and register functions.
• Adherestostore'ssafetystandards,inventoryaccuracy,andupholdsall company policies to support store profitability.
• Provides insightsrelatedtocustomer andemployee experience and communicatesfeedbacktotheShoporStoreManagerandDirector.
• Handleaccountspayableforallliveplantinventory.Includesreviewing,verifying,and processing vendor invoices by matching up invoices to receiving documents.

Communicatedwithvendorsregardingpaymentstatus,incompleteorders,and damages.

Qualifications:

• 3+yearofexperienceinplantcareandnurserymaintenance

• Bachelor'sdegreeinHorticultureorrelatedfield,preferred.
• Knowledgeoftropical,orchids,annuals,perennials,andtheirscientificnames
• Excellentcommunicationandteamworkskills
• Abletoworkflexiblehoursincludingnights,weekends,andholidays
• Mustbeabletomoveor liftupto30pounds
• Abilitytoworkoutdoorsinallweather.

PhysicalDemands&WorkEnvironment:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to, at minimum, workoutdoorsinavarietyofweatherconditions,climbladders,unloadtruckdeliveries, and lift or move up to 30 pounds.

BaselineWorkSchedule:

35‐hoursaweek;Tuesday-Saturday,rotatingbetween9‐5and11‐7shifts;occasional evenings and/or holidays required based on NYBG’s evening/events schedules.

Salary is commensurate with experience within the range of $50,000-$55,000.
