Jr. Botanical Garden Custodian

Position Summary:
The Junior Botanical Garden Custodian, under general supervision, performs work of ordinary difficulty and responsibility, which may entail supervision in cleaning, maintaining and enforcing safety requirements in one or more small buildings. Responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of small public buildings, performing such tasks as office moves, setup and breakdowns of tents, chairs and tables, sweeping, dusting, mopping, high speed buffing, waxing carpet cleaning by bonnet, cold and hot water extraction, power washing, gathering and disposing of refuse; cleaning and removing snow from walkways. Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of small public buildings, performing such tasks as office moves, setup and breakdowns of tents, chairs and tables, sweeping, dusting, mopping, high speed buffing, waxing carpet cleaning by bonnet, cold and hot water extraction, power washing, gathering and disposing of refuse; cleaning and removing snow from walkways.
Requirements:
2 years of full-time experience in cleaning and maintaining building in a large cultural institution or education facility.
A satisfactory equivalent.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Ability to move 25lbs and lift overhead, stand for long periods of time, work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
Baseline Work Schedule:
10am-6pm, Friday to Tuesday
or
10am -6pm, Wednesday to Sunday
Salary: $39,044, *($44,901)
*Current Garden union employees that have been employed for 2 years qualify for the higher salary rate. If a non-Garden and non-union applicant is appointed, they will be eligible to advance to the higher incumbent rate after two years.
