Housing Case Manager
RECAP is a dedicated organization committed to supporting low-income individuals and families in Orange County. We are seeking a compassionate and proactive Housing Case Manager to join our team. This role involves providing resource support to clients by developing personalized plans to address their needs through counseling, crisis intervention, guidance, and goal planning. The Housing Case Manager will manage a caseload of approximately 40+ households, conducting home visits and office meetings to ensure comprehensive support. Our organization values a strength-based approach, focusing on often-overlooked areas such as financial, educational, vocational, housing, family, legal, medical, and safety needs.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement mutually agreed steps with clients to achieve their goals.
- Conduct strength-based assessments and update plans during each client visit, documenting progress.
- Advocate for clients by negotiating and coordinating human service needs, including housing, healthcare, and employment.
- Certify households for entitlement programs and coordinate resources with community services.
- Organize group activities, tenant meetings, and workshops to empower clients.
- Assist clients in budgeting and monitor compliance with program rules.
- Complete housing intakes, move-ins, and move-outs, and prepare rent calculations.
- Participate in a rotation schedule for after-hours crisis intervention.
- Ensure outreach and marketing efforts maintain at least 92% occupancy in supportive housing.
- Input and track client data through the agency database and prepare outcome reports.
- Attend staff meetings, training, and relevant seminars to stay informed.
- Maintain client confidentiality and prepare necessary reports and documentation.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree or equivalent experience in the human services field.
- Knowledge of social services system principles and practices.
- Awareness and sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic diversity of Orange County.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work accurately under frequent interruptions and meet deadlines.
- Flexibility, initiative, good judgment, and discretion.
- Experience in counseling and crisis intervention.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to drive for company business.
