Director of Technical Design, Denim
Responsibilities
- Support technical design team during the engagement: assist with creating fit blocks, grading rules, maintain construction standards, and spec architecture across the assigned denim assortment
- Partner with design team to create tech packs for new seasonal styles
- Hold fit sessions on live models, making final fit calls and setting fit intent for the category
- Partner with wash/laundry teams and vendors to solve for shrinkage, distortion, and wash-to-wash consistency; troubleshoot recurring issues at the root-cause level
- Work closely with in house patternmakers and factories, ensuring fit accuracy
- 6-8+ years of technical design experience, with substantial depth in denim/bottoms
- Expert-level knowledge of denim construction, wash processes (enzyme, stone, laser, etc.), and their effects on fit and shrinkage
- Proven track record leading fit sessions and making final, confident fit decisions
- Strong pattern-making and grading knowledge
- Proficiency in Illustrator, Excel, and knowledge of digital patternmaking a plus
