Job Title: Supervisor of Work Experiences
Job Summary:
The Education Career and Enrichment Team at CASES is hiring for a Supervisor of Work Experience. The ECE team provides workforce readiness and educational opportunities to those impacted by the criminal legal system.
The Supervisor of Work Experience will manage the Emerging Leaders Contract- specifically overseeing NYC’s vulnerable youth via NYC’s Summer Youth Employment Program and the Work Progress Program (CASES paid internal internship). S.Y.E.P operates March to September, where you will have direct supervision of three seasonal staff members to assist with managing worksites and participant applications, facilitating workshops, etc. Please note- during the months of July and August vacation will not be available due to the level of involvement expected to operate SYEP- after the completion of the 7 week operating period, a more regular schedule with use of vacation hours will resume. W.P.P operates September through March- managing CASES internal paid internship of 120 hours for 16-24 year olds.
Shift Hours: This position is full-time Monday – Friday from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Salary: The salary for this role is $34.91 per hour
Location Address: 4 West 125th Street, New York, NY 10027. Our office is easily accessible by public transportation.
Workplace Flexibility: In-Person - Staff roles designated as fully in-person are eligible for in-person workplace differential pay
What You Will Be Doing:
SYEP
- Manage SYEP Emerging Leaders contract which includes creating and retaining referral partnerships, managing the enrollment process through the SYEP database, scheduling and facilitating SYEP Orientation (This sometimes includes Saturdays)
- Hire, train and supervise 3 SYEP seasonal team members – coordinators, worksite monitors and PBL facilitators
- Develop fluency in the contractual obligations by reviewing with Team Leader and speaking with DYCD contract manager
- Develop worksites appropriate for SYEP participants
- Create and maintain system of organization in preparation for DYCD audits
Paid Internship Program
- Recruit up to 25 youth internally to participate in 120 hours of paid internship
- Facilitate 10 hours of internship preparation prior to interns beginning internships
- Develop internship worksites and maintain regular communication once interns are placed
- Enter data in CASES database documenting internship progress
- Participate in funder trainings and learning communities
- Other duties as assigned by the Team Leader and/or Sr. Director
- Attend Monthly DYCD Provider meetings
- Have regular/frequent communication with assigned DYCD contract manager
- Meet with Director for supervision weekly
- Develop strong professional relationships across the organization
What We Are Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Experience managing DYCD/SYEP contracts or contracts of similar requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in youth workforce development and a demonstration of leadership
- Experience developing worksites for youth and young adults
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to create and maintain organized operational systems
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel; proficient in use of Google Docs
- Ability and desire to apply youth development principles and commitment to work from a strength-based perspective
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
