  • Provide leadership in advisory programming and execution with teacher and staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Communicate positive behavioral interventions and support activities at faculty meetings;
  • Collect, maintain and analyze behavior data;
  • Support teachers to implement with fidelity research based intervention strategies and intervention programs designed to improve the behavior of targeted students at all three tiers of intervention;
  • Provide strong leadership to the school in positive behavioral interventions and supports.
  • Coordinate intensive intervention plans and resources for students requiring tier 3 behavioral interventions;
  • Participate in professional learning activities related to research based behavioral interventions, as well as other professional learning opportunities to further develop knowledge/skills;
  • Identify proactive approaches to keep our school community strong.

  • Provide strategic direction, implementation, and communication about all facets of student life programming using research and best practices to inform this work.
  • Continue to develop the student life curriculum centered around the core values of the school which incorporates diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and social-emotional learning.
  • Collaborate with other Administrators on the production and distribution of the student handbook.
  • Oversee the planning and implementation of student leadership training throughout the academic year.
  • Communicate frequently with both faculty and parents about students' experiences.
  • Establish and support respectful relationships with faculty and staff.
  • Work closely and communicate regularly with the school counselor and school nurse.
  • Facilitate assemblies, clubs, and advisory group programming.
  • Serve as a conduit between students and faculty by providing important feedback to staff about the student experience and mediating conversations between students and adults.
  • Serve as a point person along with learning specialist, counselor, and division head in supporting students facing significant challenges.
  • Build relationships with students.
  • Center diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of student life, with the belief that these ideals are critical to engendering a true sense of belonging.
  • Identify priorities and allocate resources to support the emotional and mental health of students.
  • Oversee the student experience and foster a school climate that enhances community and student growth.
  • Be present and visible in the school community by frequently connecting with students in common areas, cafeteria, co-curricular spaces, hallways, and other spaces students gather.
  • Nurture and coach student leaders.
  • Coordinate with the student support team to address student needs and offer leadership when considering the intersection of academic, behavioral, social, and emotional supports.
  • Commitment to student-centered learning and student-centered leadership.
  • Foster a caring, positive, and engaging learning environment.
  • Support and communicate the community expectations including the code of conduct, honor code, and major school rules.
  • Develop and implement innovative approaches to discipline, to include restorative practices.
  • Develop and communicate clear disciplinary procedures and policies to students, families, and the school community.
  • Work collaboratively with the school community to help implement innovative forms of discipline that promote justice, healing, and learning in ways that are guided by empathy, compassion, transparency, and fairness.
  • Mediate and resolve discipline issues and coordinate discipline meetings with students and families involved.
  • Help facilitate addressing student attendance issues.
  • Performs other duties assigned by the Head of School.

Qualifications/Education and/or Experience

  • Knowledge of the research and practices related to school wide behavioral support, including applied behavioral analysis, and the ability to use a variety of observational and interviewing skills;
  • At least 3 years prior administrative experience required;
  • Previous experience with PBIS and/or restorative justice preferred but not required;
  • Master's Degree in education or related field required from an accredited institution preferred but not required;
  • Administrative Certification (SBL/SDL) preferred but not required
  • Experience with the supervision of teachers in a public school or charter school setting preferred but not required;
  • Able to work an eleven month position required;
  • Valid New York State Teaching Certificate preferred but not required. Will also accept if applicant has out of state valid teaching license.
