Bartender

BOYFRIEND co-op is a worker-owned cocktail bar and café in Bushwick centered on queer community, with a particular focus on creating a welcoming space for sapphic, trans, and gender-expansive people.

The people who work behind the bar are the people who own the business. We're looking for a bartender to take over our weekend nights and, over time, become part of the team that helps steward BOYFRIEND's future.

• Part time to start: 2-3 shifts per week, one of which must be a Friday or Saturday night, there’s some flexibility in what the other day(s) might be.
• In our pursuit of finding the right candidate, there is some flexibility in start date. The earliest start is the second week of August, but we'd ideally like someone in place by September.

• Minimum 2 years of bartending experience
• Craft cocktail experience a plus
• Management or shift lead experience also big plus
• Barista experience also a plus, but not required
• Genuine interest in worker cooperative and contributing to a collaborative workplace.

This position starts part time, with room to grow into full-time as the fit becomes clear. Worker-ownership is part of how BOYFRIEND is structured, and it can be part of your future here too, but it comes after at least a year of working together,

We're looking for someone who is excited by collaborative decision-making, values queer community, and wants to help shape the future of the business.

• We pay a base wage of tipped minimum wage, plus tips. On top of that, we guarantee $27/hour per shift. Any difference between base wage + tips that is less than $27/hr is paid by the business.
