Job Title: College Assistant (Hourly) – Payroll Support
Location: Office of Human Resource Services
Full/Part Time: Part-Time
POSITION DETAILS
The Office of Human Resource Services at Brooklyn College is seeking a part-time College Assistant to support for the payroll function and assist with processing timesheets for part-time employees, while adhering to Office of Human Resources and University Payroll policies and procedures.
The College Assistant will report to the HR Specialist for Payroll Support and will work a consistent schedule of 20 hours per week between Monday and Friday, 9am and 5pm. Please note that the maximum hours for this position is 1,040 hours per year.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
§ Welcome employees and visitors to the department, determine the nature of business, and direct visitors to appropriate HR Staff, and assist with phone coverage.
§ Process timesheets for all part-time employees. Review timesheets for accuracy, and enter hours to be paid into the Time Tracking System (TTS).
§ Perform regular checks to ensure that College departments submit timesheets at the end of the pay period. Inform supervisor of missed timesheets for appropriate follow up.
§ Respond to requests for information and basic employee inquiries, including but not limited to: replacement pay stubs and reissued W-2 forms. Investigate undeliverable employee paychecks and address as appropriate. Assist with processing paperwork for emergency checks.
§ Track and monitor longevity and other special payments for hourly Classified staff ensuring timely payment.
§ Organize timesheets in the “BCTime” shared folder.
§ Perform related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
§ High School Diploma or GED
§ Excellent customer service, organizational, oral and writing skills.
§ Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
§ Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
§ Ability to work on a team or independently.
§ Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
§ 1 year of Office experience is preferred.
§ Keen eye for detail
§ Ability to work a consistent schedule of 20 hours per week, between Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.
COMPENSATION
$19.12 - $25.00 per hour. Commensurate with experience.
