Employment Type: Full-Time
Health network located in Hicksville, NY is seeking a Human Resource and Payroll Manager to join their team. The Human Resources and Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing a broad range of HR functions, including employee relations, performance management, compliance, benefits administration, and payroll operations. This role ensures the accurate and timely processing of payroll, supports compensation planning, and contributes to policy development, employee engagement, and overall organizational effectiveness. The HR and Payroll Manager also serves as a key liaison between the HR and finance teams, maintaining data integrity and facilitating efficient cross-functional communication.
The position is paying up to $140K and the company would like to hire ASAP.
Key Responsibilities:
Human Resources Management:
- Oversee full-cycle recruitment in partnership with hiring managers, including job postings, screening, and onboarding
- Serve as a point of contact for employee relations issues and foster a positive work environment
- Coordinate performance management and support employee development and goal-setting
- Identify training needs and implement employee development and compliance programs
- Ensure compliance with labor laws and update/enforce HR policies and procedures
- Manage employee benefits programs and assist with related inquiries
- Implement employee engagement initiatives to support morale and retention
Payroll Management:
- Manage accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly or monthly payroll, including changes in employment status or compensation
- Oversee payroll systems and troubleshoot issues in collaboration with vendors or IT
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
- Support compensation planning, including benchmarking, structures, and bonus plans
- Maintain detailed payroll records, review data for accuracy, and resolve discrepancies
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field (required)
- SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar certifications (preferred)
Experience:
- 5+ years of HR experience, with 3+ years of direct payroll management
- Strong understanding of payroll systems, benefits administration, and employment compliance
- Familiarity with labor laws, wage & hour laws, and tax regulations
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of HR best practices, compliance, and employee relations
- High accuracy and attention to detail in payroll and reporting
- Proficient in payroll software and HRIS platforms
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Proven ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines
Work Environment:
- Full-time, on-site or hybrid
- Occasional evening/weekend work during peak periods
- Collaborative, cross-departmental work with HR, Finance, and IT
