Job Description
Responsible for accounting and financial reporting for a Municipal (Muni) Desk, including transaction oversight, P&L, revenue commentary, and balance sheet substantiation. Preference for experience with municipal securities and internal controls. AFS accounting knowledge is a plus.
Position Summary
The Fixed Income Division (FID) Product Controller supports fixed income trading desks, overseeing transaction monitoring, P&L reporting, and acting as a key control function.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with front office to produce daily, weekly, and monthly P&L analysis
- Investigate and resolve P&L discrepancies (trade booking errors, missing deals, system or valuation issues)
- Liaise with Front Office, Operations, Technology, Middle Office, and Market Risk
- Enhance internal controls through evaluation and implementation of best practices
- Perform month-end close, including balance sheet reconciliation and substantiation
- Support ad hoc desk requests
- Drive process and system improvements through project initiatives
- Evaluate new trades for valuation, accounting treatment, and financial disclosure
Qualifications
- 5+ years of Product Control experience (municipal securities preferred)
- Knowledge of accounting principles, including AFS
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables)
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Accounting or Finance degree required
