Job Title: Chemistry Lab Supervisor (Full-Time)

Location: New York, NY

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Chemistry Lab Supervisor to oversee laboratory operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain high-quality testing standards. This role involves supervising personnel, managing quality assurance processes, and supporting efficient laboratory workflow while ensuring patient safety and accurate test results.

Responsibilities

Laboratory Operations & Supervision

• Supervise testing personnel and ensure adherence to performance standards
• Monitor quality control, instrument maintenance, and laboratory procedures
• Ensure staff are properly trained, competent, and compliant with testing protocols
• Coordinate staffing and scheduling to ensure adequate coverage

Quality Assurance & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with SOPs, regulatory standards, and safety protocols
• Initiate corrective actions when test performance deviates from standards
• Review and monitor proficiency testing and quality assurance activities
• Maintain documentation for inspections, audits, and regulatory requirements

Testing & Technical Oversight

• Perform and oversee laboratory testing as needed
• Ensure accuracy and reliability of test results before reporting
• Monitor instrument calibration, maintenance, and validation processes
• Identify and resolve issues impacting test performance

Staff Development & Leadership

• Train, mentor, and evaluate laboratory staff
• Conduct competency assessments and performance reviews
• Assist in hiring and onboarding new team members
• Promote a collaborative and professional work environment

Operational Efficiency & Safety

• Manage inventory, supplies, and equipment usage
• Ensure proper specimen handling and tracking
• Maintain a safe and compliant laboratory environment
• Communicate effectively across shifts to ensure continuity of operations

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Medical Laboratory Science, or related field
• Minimum 4+ years of clinical laboratory experience
• Valid New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License (NYSED)
• Strong knowledge of laboratory regulations, QA/QC processes, and compliance standards
• Experience in supervising or leading laboratory staff

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) (ASCP preferred)
• Prior experience in laboratory leadership or supervisory role
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
