Job Summary
This NYC Meatpacking District flagship Cafe, Restaurant, & Bar for family-owned Kobrick Coffee Co. (105 years old, Est. Lower Manhattan, NYC 1920, now roasting in Hoboken, NJ) - is seeking both full-time and part-time dedicated Chefs to join us at our unique 13th Street venue: a legendary neighborhood favorite since 2015.
In this role, you will be responsible for executing innovative menus and preparing delicious meals for our guests. Our menu entails mostly light food options, delicately prepared to perfection. Our patrons - first-timers and regulars - rave about our offerings. We need your help to allow us to serve our busy, upscale neighborhood with the quality of meal we are known for providing.
Ideally you are experienced, innovative, and work well with others; you have a flair for invention and a passion for your culinary craft. You are artistic, and take pride in every dish. You are consumed by a passion for neatness, organization, and above all cleanliness. You thrive on honing your art every single day. You appreciate the need for collaborating with others to create the ideal customer experience.
In addition to the experienced, we are open to training talented, enthusiastic culinary students on their way to becoming great chefs.
Responsibilities:
- Execute our existing menus
- Create/assist us in inventing new menu items to intrigue and delight our patrons
- Ensure set-up of the kitchen with necessary tools and equipment
- Prepare food and present it in an appealing manner according to our standards
- Supervise and delegate tasks to other team members, when appropriate
- Pitch in and assist other employees with their tasks whenever possible
- Maintain proper levels of inventory and restock when necessary
- Meticulously follow all food safety regulations
- Maintain an immaculate workspace
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a chef or cook, or recent culinary training
- Certification from culinary school preferred
- Advanced knowledge of culinary tools, techniques, and recipes
- Ability to remain calm and thrive under pressure
- Excellent time management skills
- Strong leadership skills
- Team mentality and strong work ethic
- Punctuality Essential
- Multi-lingual/ASL always welcome, but not required
- First-Aid Certification and Skills valued
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- NYC DOH Food Handler’s Certification (or commitment to obtain same within 30 days of hiring)
