Senior Director of Supportive Services
The Senior Director of Support Services provides daily oversight and supervision of RECAP’s social and human service programming throughout Orange County.
Position Summary
The Senior Director of Support Services performs a wide range of difficult-to-complex administrative activities and ensures the successful daily operation of RECAP human and social service programming in Middletown and Newburgh, including CSBG.
Qualifications and Expectations
We are looking for a skilled professional who meets the following:
Experience: 6–10 years in Human Services, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role
Education: Master’s degree preferred, or Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, social work, sociology, or a related field
Administrative Skills: Minimum 5 years performing general administrative work
Technical Knowledge: Principles of human services administration, personnel practices, employment laws, budgeting, accounting, fiscal management, contractual reporting, office procedures, program policies, database systems, and working with families experiencing crisis/trauma
Communication: Effective verbal and written communication; strong persuasion, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills
Leadership & Judgment: Ability to assess operational, program, staffing, and fiscal needs; interpret legal documents; evaluate financial records; analyze documents; and resolve administrative and interpersonal issues
Technical Proficiency: Microsoft Office suite and internet navigation
Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license and willingness to use personal vehicle for work-related travel
Essential Functions (Primary Responsibilities)
Program & Department Management:
Direct and participate in the development and implementation of department goals, objectives, and procedures
Oversee Middletown and Newburgh Support Services, Parole Re-Entry, and SNUG programs to meet contract deliverables
Coordinate CSBG programming, including data collection, reporting, and timely submissions
Develop and implement program plans with staff support
Assess service outcomes and ensure effective use of the GoEngage database
Oversee program budgets and manage fiscal responsibilities
Advise Executive staff on policy, fiscal, operational, and planning matters
Prepare reports on finances, staffing, and program activities
Client & Staff Coordination:
Ensure proper coordination of client supportive services
Conduct comprehensive departmental needs assessments, including updates to strategic plans and operational manuals
Collaborate with Program Directors, HR, and Executive Team to ensure training, development, and timely completion of annual evaluations
Leadership & Team Development:
Lead and manage team members to achieve departmental and organizational goals
Set clear performance expectations and provide regular feedback
Delegate tasks effectively and ensure accountability
Foster a collaborative, positive team culture built on trust, respect, and open communication
Coach, mentor, and support staff professional development
Address workplace issues and conflicts constructively
Model ethical behavior, integrity, and professionalism
Adapt leadership approach to evolving organizational needs
Non-Essential / Secondary Responsibilities
Knowledge of office procedures and business communications (letters, emails, minutes, donor and grantee reports)
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
Take direction, establish priorities, and work effectively as a team player
Strong data analysis skills and attention to detail
Flexibility to take on other duties as assigned to support RECAP
Collaborate with COO, Communications Coordinator, and Executive Assistant to market and promote services

Timely submissions of reports, budgets, and renewals
Completion of a community needs assessment and achievement of Strategic Plan benchmarks
Annual review of the GoEngage database for compliance and accurate documentation
Completion of staff evaluations
Participation in county-wide task forces, coalitions, and committees to increase agency presence
