Division/Program Summary:
The Bureau of Operations is responsible for providing maintenance and repair services to City owned and operated facilities. Plant Operations is committed to supporting the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene's focus on protecting and promoting the health of all New Yorkers by providing comprehensive building services. These services include multiple building trades responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the agency's owned and leased sites.

Position Summary:
The Oiler reporting directly to the Director of Plant Operations, and with the widest latitude for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative, performs professional work of difficult nature and responsibility. This position is critical to the operations of DOHMH buildings to avoid premature failure of building systems.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for the lubrication of power plant, pumping and/or construction equipment; performs related work.

Lubricate and clean pumps, engines, blowers, compressors, motors, gears, ejectors and other operating equipment.

Assist in the operation, maintenance, and repair of this equipment.

Read meters, gauges, and other operating equipment.

Keep logs.

Operate lubricant filtering and purifying equipment; maintains lubricant inventory.

May operate a motor vehicle in the performance of assigned duties.

Qualifications
Three years of full-time satisfactory experience in the lubrication, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment; or
One and one-half years of experience as described in "1" above plus graduation from an approved trade, technical, or vocational high school or completion of an approved internship program; or
One year of experience as described in "1" above plus an associate degree from an accredited school in mechanical technology.
