Food and Beverage Manager

A.MANO Brooklyn is seeking a full-time Food & Beverage Manager with positive energy, great sense of humor and ability to collaborate to run the busy café and a new wine bar inside our Prospect Heights retail space, A.MANO Brooklyn.

This is a rare chance to own a dual operation from the ground up: a daytime café (7am–5pm) and an evening wine bar (12pm–9pm) sharing one space. You'll help launch the wine program through a phased rollout — starting with small in-store events followed by a soft rollout of wine service (4-7pm) before we announce a full wine bar (aiming for Sept) — and grow it into a thriving evening business. We're looking for someone who lives comfortably in both worlds: the morning espresso rush and an evening glass of wine or glass of beer, and who is willing and able to do whatever it takes to keep things rolling.

The Food & Beverage Manager reports to the Owner and Store Manager and is responsible for all café- and wine-bar-related operations.

• Maintain café and bar appliances and equipment; primary POC for service providers including plumber, HVAC, carting, etc.
• Maintain and enforce health and safety standards to ensure DOH compliance
• Opening, transition and closing procedures for cafe and wine bar.

• ALCOHOL COMPLIANCE & RESPONSIBLE SERVICE - Ensure the operation runs in full compliance with our NYS Liquor Authority (SLA) license at all times, including any conditions specific to our license and posted hours of service.
• Ensure all staff are ATAP certified (looking at but open to suggestions)

• STAFFING - Hire, train, schedule, and manage café and wine bar staff. Scheduling is done in ADP in conjunction with the Store Manager. Adjust time sheets in ADP as needed.

• VENDOR & INVENTORY MANAGEMENT - Maintain close working relationships with all vendors and suppliers to ensure café and bar are fully stocked for service at the start of each day and shift, and that all inventory and supplies are on hand and reordered as needed.

• PRODUCT & PROGRAM MANAGEMENT - Develop monthly seasonal café specials, build and evolve the wine (and beer) program: curate the list, develop the by-the-glass and bottle offering, train staff to speak confidently and knowledgeably about the wine list with guests.
• Conceive and execute café and wine events — pour-overs, specialty tastings with suppliers, wine tastings, and the early event-based rollout of the wine program. Support all in-store events.

• ADMINISTRATION Weekly status report meetings with the management team.
• Maintain up-to-date café and wine product lists in Shopify and Toast, ensuring they're in sync — removing old items, adding new ones.
• Attend trade fairs like Shoppe Object and Fancy Food Show to source products/vendors

• FLOOR COVERAGE - Occasional shifts in both coffee or wine service; generally to cover the midday overlap and the 5pm café-to-wine handoff, and to fill in for call outs.
• Wine bar floor duties as needed: setting up and breaking down the bar, pouring, responsible service and ID checks, and closing the bar per protocol.

• Experience running a beverage program under a liquor license.
• 5+ years café experience — opening, closing. Full barista skills.
• Experience preparing and serving hot/iced coffee & bakery products.
• Experience with POS systems for performing transactions.
• Current Food Protection certification — required prior to hire.
• ATAP certification — required prior to serving alcohol
