The Communications Department leads Legal Aid's growing media relations, marketing, branding, and design needs on earned, owned, and paid media channels. The Communications Department tells the stories of our clients and supporters, develops educational and advocacy campaigns, and highlights our legal and advocacy victories. A member of the Communications Department, the Graphic Designer (Contractor) will elevate and strengthen Legal Aid's brand identity by developing compelling graphics, publications, visualizations, and other creative assets. The Graphic Designer (Contractor) will tell the story of our clients, supporters, and legal and advocacy victories. This content will support community education programs and initiatives on owned and paid media platforms. The Graphic Designer reports to the Director of Digital Content and engagement, partners with other vendors and consultants, and assists the Communications team with design needs. The Graphic Designer (Contractor) will model Legal Aid's core values and bring their commitment to social, racial, and economic justice into every aspect of their work. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work on a wide range of projects and campaigns to meet the goals of the Communications team
• Assist in the development of and adherence to LAS design systems and standards
• Design a variety of appealing, on-brand, high-impact graphics and visualizations for social media, websites, emails, print, and advertising
• Coordinate with subject matter experts to design public education materials such as brochures, one-pagers, and fact sheets
• Create guidelines for LAS logos and other branding materials
• Create and standardize design processes to improve LAS design capabilities
• Other duties as assigned

• Bachelor's Degree, BFA, or commensurate work experience
• Mastery of industry-standard software to create graphics, logos, and print materials
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite for both Mac and PC is required
• Motion graphics experience is a plus
• Broad understanding of marketing, production, website design, corporate identity, advertisements, and multimedia design
• Understands the role of design in supporting advocacy, communications, and marketing objectives
• Experience with non-profit organizations, government agencies, or mission-driven organizations is strongly preferred
• The ability to communicate the reasoning behind design choices
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities simultaneously and meet deadlines
• Familiarity with design standards and requirements for various platforms
• Excellent leadership, organizational, consultative, and verbal/written communication skills
• Familiarity with designing content in multiple languages
• Solid knowledge of brand communication
• Exceptional organizational skills, prioritization, and attention to detail

SALARY TRANSPARENCY The posting reflects the range of potential salaries for the role. The specific salary offers will be dependent on candidate qualifications, including collectively bargained salary steps for unionized roles.
