Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry night shift position in Rochester, NY, requiring phlebotomy and IV placement competency along with a valid NY RN license.

Details

• Med/Surg Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
• Patient population includes diagnoses such as colon cancer, intestinal obstructions, breast cancer, morbid obesity, cholecystitis, and appendicitis
• Day/Evening patient ratio is 5:1 (may stretch to 6–7:1); Night ratio is typically 6–7:1 (may stretch to 8–10:1 in low-staff situations)
• PCTs are available on all units and assist with vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and activities of daily living
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Floating to like units required to meet facility needs
• No on-call responsibilities
• EMR: Epic (experience preferred)
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required (no pending licenses accepted)
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience
• Phlebotomy and IV placement competency are mandatory skills for this role
• Proficiency in telemetry interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with Rapid Response Teams, peripheral line care/management, nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, non-invasive airway management, and isolation precautions
• Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Block scheduling will be accommodated when possible, but is not guaranteed
• RTO is limited to no more than 1 week per contract; all time-off requests must be submitted upfront
• Scrub colors: any combination of navy and white
• Local candidates (within 75 miles of the facility) are not eligible for this position
