Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ensures the development of sustainable structures for leadership and civic engagement initiatives, programs, and services in support of RITs goals
  • Coordinates ongoing assessment for the department as well as initiatives, programs, and services within the department in alignment with university policies and divisional policies and expectations
  • Establishes and maintains on and off-campus relationships and partnerships in support of the department's vision, mission, and strategic goals
  • Designs and implements systems and protocols related to departmental budgets, administrative processes, and internal controls to ensure compliance with university and divisional policies
  • Supervises and mentors student leaders, peer mentors, and student employees
  • Serves as a liaison between students and university departments to promote communication, advocacy, and support for student needs
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Knowledge of student development theory and best practices in student affairs
  • Knowledge of risk management practices in event planning and student organization oversight
  • Skill in written and verbal communication, including public speaking
  • Skill in event planning and program development
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to create inclusive, student-centered environments that support belonging and engagement
Minimum Education & Experience
  • Master's degree in related field
  • 7 years of relevant experience
  • 3 years of supervisory experience
Job Level Overview

Management and People Leadership Level 3 - Heads a department, multiple smaller functions with a department, or a specialized function with institution-wide span. Integrates strategic thinking to drive cross functional initiatives to optimize efficiency, performance, and innovation.

The Director of the Center for Engagement and Student Success (CES) plays a highly visible, hands-on leadership role focused on advancing the success of first-generation college students through intentional programming, strategic partnerships, and data-informed practice. On a day-to-day basis, the Director oversees the design, implementation, and assessment of holistic support initiatives that promote student persistence, belonging, and academic momentum from entry through graduation. This role collaborates closely with campus partners across academic affairs, student life, advising, and enrollment management to align programming with institutional student success priorities. The Director leads and mentors professional staff, manages resources and budgets, and uses assessment and student data to continuously refine programming and demonstrate impact.
