People Partner, North America

Walr
New York, NY

About Walr:

Walr is a data creation company that supports insight professionals globally. It specializes in reaching diverse audience segments, leveraging proprietary technology, and offering bespoke services. With a comprehensive suite of tools, backed by a team of seasoned industry professionals, Walr’s services include efficient data collection methods, intuitive data visualization and reporting techniques, and supportive and transparent advice. Walr exists to unify the complex and fragmented research process by introducing more efficient, rapid, and straightforward methods.

As a rapidly growing company and acclaimed recipient of the Best Workplace in Tech™ and Best Workplace in Wellbeing™ titles, we're not just offering a job – we're inviting you to shape our journey. Empowerment and growth define us. Join us in reshaping the future of business.

About The Role:

Walr is growing and our footprint in North America is expanding with it. We're hiring our first US-based People Partner to shape and deliver a high-quality employee experience across the region. You’ll be the go-to partner for our North America team by supporting our leaders and employees, strengthening our culture, and helping us scale with clarity and care.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role at the centre of how we grow well. Alongside core People Partner responsibilities, you’ll also oversee office management and local coordination, ensuring our New York office runs smoothly and supports a connected employee experience.

You’ll work closely with our Global People Lead and collaborate with People team colleagues across the Europe and APAC. Your work will directly influence performance, engagement, retention and team success in one of our most strategically important markets. We’re after someone who thrives in fast-paced, high-growth environments. Someone who’s confident in the grey but always focused on structure, outcomes and experience. You’ll be pragmatic, values-led, and deeply committed to helping teams do their best work. This is a great opportunity for someone who’s ready to own, shape and scale the People agenda in our North America region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be the first point of contact for all North America based employees and manager queries - building trusted relationships across the business.
  • Run thoughtful, high-quality People processes across performance, compensation, engagement, onboarding/offboarding, and employee relations.
  • Coach and support managers through challenges related to performance, feedback, retention, team development, and leadership capability.
  • Provide tools, frameworks, and guidance that enable managers to lead independently and confidently.
  • Help design and deliver scalable processes that are legally compliant, people-first, and aligned to global ways of working.
  • Partner with the Global People Lead and wider People team to deliver consistent, high-quality people programs across all markets.
  • Act as a thought partner and advisor in org design, talent planning, and team effectiveness.
  • Use data, insight, and feedback to shape decisions and track impact over time.
  • Champion and embed our values in day-to-day moments - ensuring our culture evolves with intention as we scale.
  • Stay close to legal and compliance changes across US state-advising and acting on best practice where needed.

Desired Experience:

  • Experience in a People Partner or HRBP role within a scaling or international business - ideally tech-enabled, product-led, or high-growth.
  • Deep understanding of US labor laws and multi-state employment practices.
  • Track record of coaching managers and supporting employee performance in a fast-moving environment.
  • Comfortable owning day-to-day people delivery while also contributing to broader strategy.
  • Experienced in designing and running people processes across performance, development, compensation, engagement, and ER.
  • Confident using people data to guide decisions and surface insights.
  • Exposure to global or matrixed environments, and experience partnering across time zones and cultures is a plus.

Desired Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong Executioner: You get things done with pace, structure, and clarity and while balancing quality with momentum.
  • Coach Mindset: You help others grow, not just solve problems. You enable, guide and support, without taking the wheel.
  • Culture Champion: You bring values to life in how you work, how you lead, and how you support others especially through change or ambiguity.
  • Compliance Confident: You stay ahead of local employment law and apply it practically, without creating unnecessary friction.
  • Team Player: You work well with global peers, can zoom in and out, and value transparency, ownership, and pace.

What we offer:

At Walr, we know that a one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t work when it comes to supporting a global team. That’s why we design our benefits with local relevance in mind while staying grounded in a shared sense of purpose and culture. Here’s an overview of the benefits most relevant to the region this role sits in:

  • 19 days paid time off each year, plus 11 federal holidays
  • A monthly $175 Life & Wellness stipend to support your health, passions, or personal development
  • A range of comprehensive healthcare plans (Health, Dental & Vision), with 50–100% employer contribution
  • 401(k) plan with a 3–5% company match
  • Parental leave in line with applicable federal and state regulations
  • Work from Anywhere for up to 8 weeks per year
  • Star of the Quarter Awards to recognise outstanding impact
  • Hired and supported via Deel , enabling seamless global employment
