Ownership/Successor Ophthalmology Opportunity in Manhattan!
Job Type: Successor physician stepping into ownership of the professional corporation.
Subspecialty: Refractive. PRK, LASEK, corneal cross-linking.
Practice Location: Park Avenue, Manhattan, New York, NY.
Population: NYC metro. Roughly 8.5M city, 20M metro.
Physician/ Population Ratio: This is cash pay refractive, so demand is marketing driven rather than catchment driven. Patient acquisition is 100% digital (PPC, SEO).
MD Or Corporate Owned: MD owned PC.
Reason for Job Opening: Founder is transitioning out of the business side, has no succession plan and explicitly does not want a PE outcome so the successor takes ownership of the PC.
If Physician is retiring, how much longer will Physician Work: Provider stays on post close under a Clinical Services Agreement to continue operating and to train and transition the successor. Expect meaningful overlap, not a hard cutoff.
Experience Requirement: Excimer laser refractive experience preferred; strongly consider a high volume cataract / anterior segment surgeon who wants to add refractive; NY licensed or license eligible.
Partnership Opportunity: The successor owns 100% of the professional corporation. Zero capital out of pocket, no bank debt, no personal guarantee. They also receive a profits interest in the MSO with a vesting schedule. Full clinical autonomy.
Target Compensation: The successor owns 100% of the professional corporation and takes its clinical income as residual distributions after PC operating expenses and the MSO management fee. In addition to the PC's clinical income, the successor holds a profits interest in the management company, subject to a vesting schedule, so they participate in the platform's growth as well as their own practice's.
Retirement Program: To be structured at close through the MSO.
Other Benefits: The MSO carries everything non-clinical: billing, collections, staff, marketing, equipment, lease, technology, compliance. The physician does zero administration. Malpractice covered.
Relocation: Negotiable, case by case.
Vacation/PTO: The physician is the owner and sets their own schedule.
Target Start Date: Aligned to close; transition can start part time and ramp as volume builds; open to a doctor whose availability is 6 to 12 months out, for instance someone coming off a PE non-compete or an equity vesting cliff.
Practice Management: MSO.
Current patient volume: Historical volume detail is provided with the financials under NDA. The practice has run on one surgery day per week; current volume is below historical levels pending the marketing relaunch the MSO funds at close.
Estimated Surg Volume for this role: Scales with the successor. Capacity on existing equipment is 720 procedures per year at three surgery days per week. Historical volume detail is provided with the financials under NDA.
Support Staff: Existing clinical and administrative team stays in place and moves to MSO payroll. Director of Clinical Operations already in seat.
Hospital Call: None.
MDs on Staff: 1
Partners: None. The successor is the sole owner of the PC.
OD Network: Co-management and referral network to be built out by the MSO.
Refractive Surgery - Lasik: Yes. This is the core of the practice. PRK, LASEK, corneal cross-linking.
Laser - O.R.: Currently a J&J VISX excimer platform. The MSO is funding a full laser and equipment upgrade to a modern Zeiss excimer suite post close, under an FMV equipment lease, at no capital cost to the successor.
ASC: In office surgical suite. No hospital or ASC dependency.
