Bankruptcy Attorney (Midtown NYC)

We are seeking an experienced Bankruptcy Attorney to join our dynamic legal team, working in a hybrid capacity from our mid-town NYC location. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advising clients on bankruptcy options under Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 13 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code. Key Responsibilities:

• Guide clients through the complexities of bankruptcy, ensuring informed decision-making regarding Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 13 cases.
• Prepare, review, and file necessary legal documents including bankruptcy petitions, schedules, statements, motions, and pleadings.
• Represent clients at Section 341 meetings, confirmation hearings, and other court appearances, primarily in the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
• Analyze financial statements, assets, liabilities, and creditor claims to develop strategic legal approaches.
• Communicate effectively with trustees, creditors, and opposing counsel to negotiate and resolve contested matters.
• Ensure strict compliance with federal bankruptcy laws, local rules, and New York-specific exemptions.
• Maintain meticulous case records and uphold clear client communications throughout the legal process.

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited top 50 nationally recognized law school.
• Previous experience at an AmLaw 200 firm is highly desirable.
• Active admission to the New York State Bar is required, along with admission to, or eligibility for, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the SDNY and/or EDNY.
• Preferably 2-4 years of experience in bankruptcy law.
• In-depth knowledge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code and New York exemption laws.
• Outstanding legal writing, advocacy, and negotiation skills.
• Capacity to manage cases independently while also working collaboratively with the team.
