Cafeteria Aide

Job Summary
- The Cafeteria Aide is responsible for the quality service of appetizing meals for hospital employees, visitors, volunteers, and clergy. The Cafeteria Aide is also responsible to maintain the sanitation standards of the work area.
- Prepares food items according to standardized recipe. Demonstrates ability to prepare and keep hot & cold foods at the proper temperature to prevent bacterial contamination. Demonstrates proper handling of all foods prepared and served. Suggests and experiments with new recipes for salads and sandwiches.
- Demonstrates ability to follow established hand washing procedure and use of gloves whenever food is handles/served.
- Sets up and completes daily work assignments within established time frame. Assures that all items are properly stored away and work area is clean according to hospital standards before the end of the shift.
- As assigned, operates the cash register. Checks customer items quickly and accurately. Maintains accurate accounting of monies collected, follows correct cash out procedure and records accurately in daily log. Operates within .50 of expected receipts 90% of the time.
- Maintains sanitary condition of equipment and re-usable in accordance with established departmental and DOH sanitation standards. Follows and completes cleaning assignments as scheduled or as directed by supervisor. Demonstrates ability to follow established cleaning and sanitizing procedures. Finds additional cleaning jobs during downtime without being asked.
- Maintains good communication within the department and with customers in the cafeteria.
- Reports all incidents or issues to the supervisor immediately.
- Assists supervisor with the planning, setup and cleanup of special functions in the cafeteria and throughout the hospital.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Serves as brand ambassador by upholding the WMCHealth Mission, Vision, and CARE values and promoting excellence in the patient experience, during every encounter.
- EXPERIENCE
- Food Service experience preferred.
- EDUCATION
- On the job training.
- High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred.
