Lab Technician
job summary:
A Lab Technician is needed for a multinational corporation that produces mirrors as well as a variety of construction, high-performance, and other materials in the Niagara Falls, NY area. This role is a technical laboratory position focused on the high-level quality testing and chemical analysis of manufacturing samples to ensure they meet customer specifications through rigorous microscopic, mechanical, and thermal evaluation.

responsibilities:
- Performs quality testing and dimensional analysis on samples at various production stages using specialized lab equipment.
- Operates high-tech instrumentation including Scanning Electron Microscopes (SEM), hardness testers, and image analyzers.
- Conducts chemical and physical characterization tests such as pH, SSA, XRD, ICP, and TGA.
- Manages the day-to-day organization of sample workloads and maintains plant-wide on-hold logs.
- Prepares micro-hardness mounts through cutting, polishing, and firing processes.
- Charts and records test results accurately in both physical logbooks and Microsoft Office applications.
- Executes routine instrument calibration and preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment.
- Supports R&D and manufacturing teams with special projects, process troubleshooting, and scale-up trials.
- Able to work in a plant environment as needed to scale up products or processes. Preferred
- Able to problem solve, troubleshoot, innovate, and be open to trying new ideas.
- Must have mechanical ability. Preferred
- Must be detail-oriented, able to work independently, and able to meet deadlines.
- Must have strong organizational skills, as well as oral and written communication skills. Required
