About Al-Andalus

Al-Andalus is an Arab-Andalusian tapas bar from Overthrow Hospitality and Chef Amira Gharib. Located in New York City’s East Village, the restaurant explores the historic connection between southern Spain, North Africa and the Levant through vegetable-forward, highly shareable small plates.

Our beverage program includes cocktails on tap, natural and low-intervention wines, thoughtful non-alcoholic options and drinks inspired by the flavors and ingredients of the region.

We are looking for an experienced bartender who is warm, professional, curious and fully engaged in the guest experience.

At Al-Andalus, bartenders are not separate from service. They are part of the full rhythm of the restaurant: welcoming guests, guiding beverage choices, supporting dining-room pacing, understanding the food and helping create the overall feeling of the room.

Responsibilities include:

• Preparing and serving cocktails, wine, beer and non-alcoholic beverages accurately and efficiently
• Executing batched and tap cocktails according to established specifications
• Completing opening prep, batching, labeling, stocking and closing responsibilities
• Maintaining a clean, organized and fully stocked bar throughout service
• Providing thoughtful recommendations based on guest preferences and food selections
• Communicating clearly with servers, managers and the kitchen
• Monitoring product quality, waste, pars and restocking needs
• Following all responsible alcohol-service, sanitation and safety requirements
• Supporting the dining room and broader team whenever needed

The ideal candidate will have:

• At least two years of professional bartending experience
• Strong foundational cocktail, spirits and wine knowledge
• Experience with—or an interest in learning—batched and tap-cocktail systems
• Genuine curiosity about natural wine, food pairing and non-alcoholic beverages
• Excellent service etiquette and an understanding of proper steps of service
• Strong organization, attention to detail and time-management skills
• The ability to execute established recipes and systems consistently
• Clear communication and the ability to remain composed during busy service
• A warm, generous presence with guests and teammates
• Availability to work nights, weekends and holidays
• The ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds

Fine-dining, natural-wine or high-volume craft-cocktail experience is a plus, but the most important qualities are professionalism, curiosity, consistency and a genuine love of hospitality.
