HOUSING PROGRAM COORDINATOR
We provide comprehensive services to People with Disabilities. WDOM provides comprehensive services to People with Disabilities. This position offers counseling and assistance for individuals and families in locating and securing housing, including packaging and submitting applications. As a member of an interdisciplinary team, the Housing Program Coordinator assists participants with identifying and obtaining safe, accessible, and affordable housing; responsible for developing and cultivating housing leads and resources through community partnerships, landlords, real estate brokers, and developers willing to accept program participants. Provide counseling and assistance for individuals and families in locating and securing housing; in charge of WDOM’s housing programs and meeting the requirements of grantors and funders
Salary: $45,000-$50,000 depending on experience
Responsibilities Include:
- Counsel clients with respect to their overall financial situation as it relates to budgeting affordability, debt reduction, credit re-building and education.
- Ensures successful and safe transition of clients into permanent housing and provides local community resources to clients if needed.
- Build relationships with local brokers, developers, property managers and other partner professionals to develop referral sources.
- Participation in local housing events.
- Manage housing workshops – in person and virtual.
- Obtain industry-required certifications as per grant requirements.
- Participate in agency sponsored training; training required by HUD; intermediaries and partners.
- Other Projects Assigned by Manager.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred with at least one year in human services. Associate’s degree with two years or more of experience in the human services field.
- should have a working knowledge of local housing issues faced by people who need accessible, affordable housing or the ability to learn quickly.
- Candidates should have basic knowledge of Medicaid eligibility and coverage or be able to learn quickly.
- Possess excellent written and oral communication and organizational skills
- Computer literate on basic Microsoft Programs such as Word, Outlook and Internet search use.
- Respectful of people with a disability, from different cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Bilingual skills preferred. Fluency in Spanish a plus.
· Must own car With Valid Driver’s License and willing to travel in Westchester
