Full-Time Sales Associate
McCabes Wine & Spirits — Upper East Side, Manhattan
We are seeking a full-time Sales Associate who is passionate about wine & spirits, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in delivering a best-in-class guest experience. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong product knowledge, professionalism, and sales ability with a hospitality-driven, team-first mindset. Key Responsibilities
- Provide thoughtful, tailored recommendations across wine, spirits, and related categories to a diverse clientele
- Deliver exceptional service across all channels: in-store, phone, email, and online inquiries
- Build and maintain long-term customer relationships, including everyday shoppers, collectors, and corporate clients
- Guide guests across a wide range of price points, with the ability to confidently trade up through trust-based selling
- Assist with large-format and corporate orders, including drafting quotes and executing fulfillment
- Participate in staff tastings and supplier meetings, evaluating products with a critical, comparative lens
- Contribute to in-store storytelling and merchandising, ensuring shelves are organized, compelling, and aligned by category/region
- Support inventory management: receiving, pricing, stocking, and maintaining depth on key SKUs
- Maintain a clean, polished, and welcoming sales floor at all times
- Accurately process transactions using POS systems
- Collaborate closely with team members to ensure strong daily execution and overall store performance Who You Are
- Experienced in wine & spirits retail, hospitality, or a related field (3–5+ years preferred)
- Possess strong working knowledge of key regions, producers, and benchmarks across both Old and New World
- Comfortable discussing vintage variation, producer style, and terroir-driven differences
- Formal wine education (WSET, CMS, or equivalent) is a plus
- A skilled communicator — clear, confident, and personable with both customers and colleagues
- Sales-minded, with the ability to read guests quickly and tailor recommendations to their needs, knowledge level, and occasion
- Comfortable working with discerning clientele and high-value transactions
- Experience building repeat clientele or a personal book of business is a strong plus
- Professional, reliable, and detail-oriented, with a strong sense of ownership
- Thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Team-oriented — low ego, high standards, and willing to jump in wherever needed
- Genuinely enthusiastic about continuous learning through tasting, reading, and engaging with the industry Schedule & Physical Requirements
- Full-time position (40 hours/week)
- Must be available for a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to stand for extended periods, climb stairs, and move throughout the store
- Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs repeatedly
