Speech Language Clinician/Speech Language Pathologist

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
Supervises: Student Therapists (after eligibility period)
Schedule: 35 hours per week | 10-month school schedule | Preschool calendar
Start: 2026–2027 School Year
Compensation: $65,000 – $70,000 annually
Job Summary
We are seeking a mission-driven Speech-Language Pathologist/Clinician to support preschool-aged students with diverse communication needs. This role partners closely with educators, families, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver individualized therapy services that support educational success and developmental progress.
The SLP plays a critical role in helping students access learning by addressing speech, language, social communication, and related functional communication skills through evidence-based, family-centered practices.
Job Responsibilities
Direct Student Services
- Provide individual and small-group speech-language therapy aligned with IEP and IFSP goals.
- Deliver services addressing articulation, language, fluency, voice/resonance, pragmatics, oral motor skills, and swallowing as applicable.
- Support generalization of communication skills across classroom and natural environments.
- Maintain assigned caseload and deliver services in center, community, or home settings as required.
Assessment & Clinical Planning
- Conduct screenings, formal evaluations, and re-evaluations.
- Analyze assessment data to identify strengths, needs, and service recommendations.
- Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans.
- Monitor progress toward established goals and provide required written reports.
Family & Staff Education
- Provide parent coaching and home carryover programming.
- Develop and deliver staff training and professional development.
- Serve as a communication resource for staff and families.
Documentation & Compliance
- Complete session documentation, treatment notes, and progress reports within required timelines.
- Maintain service logs and documentation of missed sessions.
- Ensure all services align with agency policies and state and federal regulations.
Program & Community Contribution
- Maintain therapy materials, assessment tools, and supplies.
- Support school-wide initiatives and events as needed.
- Promote inclusive participation and reduce barriers to student access.
- Stay current with best practices in speech-language therapy and early childhood development.
Supervisory Opportunities
After one year of experience, may supervise clinical fellows, new therapy staff, or student therapists.
Education & Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
- New York State Speech-Language Pathology certification
- OCFS clearance including required state and federal background checks
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Valid New York State driver’s license
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to assist students with mobility, self-care, or behavioral support needs
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and active movement
- Ability to respond to crisis or unpredictable student behavior consistent with NYSED and PBIS guidance
- Potential exposure to bodily fluids or related substances
- May travel between service locations
- Work environment noise levels vary from low to high
