We’re excited to welcome a d ependable, detail-oriented, and organized Receiver to our team! This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced culinary environment and takes pride in keeping operations organized and running smoothly. The Receiver is responsible for ensuring incoming deliveries are accurately inspected, documented, and properly stored while maintaining inventory accuracy, product quality, and food safety standards. Working closely with our Purchasing, Culinary, and Operations teams, this role plays an important part in supporting the seamless day-to-day operations of our commissary and catering programs.

Key Responsibilities

Receiving & Delivery Verification

  • Verify all deliveries against purchase orders and invoices to ensure accuracy in quantity, product type, and condition.
  • Visually inspect fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, fish, and other perishable items to ensure established quality standards are met.
  • Report and document discrepancies, damages, shortages, or quality concerns promptly to the Purchasing Manager.

Product Storage & Organization

  • Pack, unpack, label, and organize incoming shipments in designated storage areas, including dry storage, coolers, freezers, and stockrooms.
  • Rotate stock according to FIFO (First-In, First-Out) guidelines to maintain freshness, support proper inventory rotation, and minimize waste.
  • Ensure products are stored safely and in accordance with established storage and temperature requirements.

Inventory & Recordkeeping

  • Maintain accurate records of all inventory received.
  • Assist with periodic cycle counts and physical inventories as needed.
  • Support inventory accuracy by communicating product shortages, overages, or discrepancies.

Food Safety, Sanitation & Compliance

  • Follow proper food-handling, sanitation, and temperature-control procedures at all times.
  • Maintain receiving and storage areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition in accordance with applicable Board of Health and OSHA standards.
  • Dispose of boxes, pallets, packaging, and other shipping materials safely and responsibly.

Commissary & Operational Support

  • Assist with transporting products and supplies to various commissary kitchen stations and designated storage areas as needed.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing, Culinary, and Operations teams to support an efficient workflow and timely distribution of products.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support commissary and kitchen operations.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities and duties may evolve or change based on the needs of the organization and operation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in receiving, stock, or warehouse operations; food service receiving experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Department of Health regulations and proper storage and handling of perishable and non-perishable food products.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy in inventory, receiving, and quality control.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with drivers, vendors, and internal team members.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and following established procedures.
  • Basic record-keeping skills and familiarity with inventory or receiving software is a plus.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Comfortable working in cold-storage environments, including coolers and freezers, for extended periods.

Base salary: $19.00/hour

Benefits: Paid and unpaid safe and sick hours
