Job Summary

The Nurse Practitioner (NP)/Physician Assistant (PA) is responsible for providing competent medical care in accordance with the professional scope of practice and current regulatory statutes. As an NP/PA, you will perform hospital consults and rounds, take patient histories, perform physical examinations, conduct procedures (within scope of practice) under supervision of a licensed physician, develop treatment plans, and interpret health data to determine patient needs. Able to prescribe medications as permitted by scope of practice and pharmacy formulary.

Core Job Responsibilities

• Performs physical exams on patients of all ages.
• Obtains and documents patient histories and identifies health risk factors.
• Diagnoses and treats common illnesses and injuries.
• Orders and interprets diagnostic tests.
• Prescribes medications and non-pharmacological therapies based on diagnoses and patient factors.
• Provides health education and counseling to promote positive health behaviors.
• Follows standardized care guidelines in clinical practice.
• Assesses psychosocial issues and collaborates on care plans.
• Responds to emergent situations appropriately.
• Provides follow-up care and reassesses treatment effectiveness.
• Documents all clinical findings and interventions.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and ensures safety.
• Stays current with medical advancements and technology.
• Attends relevant meetings and performs other duties as required.

Education/Experience Requirements

REQUIRED:

• Masters degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience.
• Ability to meet credentialing and hospital privileges requirements.
• Knowledge across clinical areas and familiarity with EHR/EMR software.

Licensure/Certification Requirements

REQUIRED:

• Current NYS Nurse Practitioner license or Physician Assistant license with prescription privileges.
• Current BCLS and ACLS certifications.

PREFERRED:

• Active ANCC certification in relevant specialty.
