Senior Director, M&A

Fitch Group
New York, NY

Fitch Group is currently seeking a Sr. Director of M&A based out of our New York office.

As a leading, global financial information services provider, Fitch Group delivers vital credit and risk insights, robust data, and dynamic tools to champion more efficient, transparent financial markets. With over 100 years of experience and colleagues in over 30 countries, Fitch Group’s culture of credibility, independence, and transparency is embedded throughout its structure, which includes Fitch Ratings, one of the world’s top three credit ratings agencies, and Fitch Solutions, a leading provider of insights, data and analytics. With dual headquarters in London and New York, Fitch Group is owned by Hearst.

At Fitch Group, the combined power of our global perspectives is what differentiates us. It is the strength of our business. It comes from people around the world in a shared pursuit: to equal something greater than they could ever accomplish alone. Every team member is essential to our business and every perspective is critical for our success. Develop yourself in a culture that values flexibility, expects your opinion and trusts your decisions. Together we evolve and so will you, in an environment that asks you to challenge yourself – and us.

About the Team

The M&A and Venture Investments team identifies, evaluates, and executes strategic acquisitions and investments globally. We are a high-performing, entrepreneurial team that partners with senior leadership across Fitch, Hearst, and external stakeholders to support the firm’s growth strategy. Team members are expected to combine technical strength with drive, curiosity, agility, and maturity, enabling us to evaluate capital allocation opportunities with precision, depth, and impact.

How You’ll Make an Impact:

  • Partner with teams across Fitch to understand their businesses, product roadmaps, strategic priorities, and the markets in which they operate — translating these insights into SWOT analyses that inform strategic direction
  • Perform comprehensive market research and competitor analysis to deliver insights that shape strategy, deal sourcing, and opportunity assessment
  • Build and maintain a forward-looking pipeline of acquisition and investment opportunities, proactively driving deal sourcing efforts
  • Conduct rigorous financial analysis and due diligence, including scenario modeling and valuation analysis
  • Lead due diligence workstreams and support transaction execution, coordinating activities across cross-functional teams and external advisors
  • Contribute to deal structuring and negotiations, incorporating perspectives from business, legal, finance, and operations
  • Develop high-quality presentations, memos, and recommendations that provide clear insights and strategic value to senior leadership across the organization
  • Support integration planning and post-merger execution to ensure acquired businesses are positioned for long-term success
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including investment banks, private equity firms, corporate owners, and target companies

You May be a Good Fit if:

  • 10+ years of experience in investment banking, private equity, and / or corporate development
  • Exceptional financial analysis and modeling skills, with the ability to flex between market analysis, deal structuring, and M&A execution
  • Demonstrated ability to run due diligence processes and coordinate with multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Intellectual curiosity and drive to dive deep into markets, companies, and deal opportunities
  • Proactive, self-directed, and responsive, with the ability to move quickly while maintaining a high level of quality and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to deliver insight-driven recommendations
  • Highly collaborative team player with the ability to present data-driven insights and build consensus around strategic priorities
  • Advanced level of maturity and judgment with the ability to represent Fitch credibly with internal and external stakeholders

What Would Make You Stand Out:

  • Easy to work with under pressure
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to drive thought-leadership in addition to execution
  • Demonstrated “performance athlete” that is flexible and motivated by a challenge
  • Experience with integration planning and post-merger management
  • Intellectual curiosity about credit markets and financial information services more broadly

Why Choose Fitch:

  • Hybrid Work Environment: 3 days a week in office required
