Tutor / Instructor - Learning Center

We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable tutors to join our learning center. Tutors will work with students in a supportive, structured environment and help them strengthen academic skills, improve confidence, and prepare for school exams and standardized tests.

We welcome applicants with experience in all subject areas, including Math, English Language Arts, Reading, Writing, Science, Social Studies, NYS Common Core subjects, Regents Prep, SAT, ACT, PSAT, homework support, and general academic enrichment.

Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one and/or small-group tutoring to elementary, middle school, and high school students
• Assist students with homework, test preparation, study skills, and subject-specific academic support
• Prepare students for NYS assessments, Regents exams, SAT, ACT, PSAT, and other standardized tests
• Identify student strengths and areas for improvement
• Create a positive, encouraging, and focused learning environment
• Communicate student progress to center staff and/or parents as needed
• Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and consistency

Qualifications:

• Strong knowledge in one or more academic subject areas
• Prior tutoring, teaching, classroom, or mentoring experience preferred
• College students, college graduates, certified teachers, retired teachers, and subject specialists are welcome to apply
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Patient, responsible, and comfortable working with children and teenagers
• Ability to explain concepts clearly and adapt to different learning styles

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with NYS Common Core standards
• Experience preparing students for Regents exams
• Experience with SAT, ACT, PSAT, SHSAT, or other standardized test prep
• Teaching certification or progress toward an education-related degree is a plus, but not required

Schedule:

Flexible part-time hours are available. After-school, evening, and/or weekend availability is preferred.
